General update
The Kearsney Parks 2025 calendar is on sale priced £6, and is available to buy online on the Kearsney Parks website, or at the café in Kearsney Parks.
The café is open until 3.45pm until the end of February but will be closed on Christmas Day. It will also operate slightly reduced hours Christmas Eve (9am to 3pm), Boxing Day and New Year’s Day (10am to 3pm).
The café has a range of seasonal drinks on offer - why not try a luxury mint or orange hot chocolate, or a gingerbread latte. There is also a selection of seasonal sweet and savoury items on offer, along with your usual favourites.
The main car park in Kearsney Parks changed to winter opening times at the beginning of October, which is from 7am until 7pm, and is locked overnight. Parking is free for up to 4 hours.
Please note the car parks in the park will be closed on Christmas day.
Kearsney play area - share your thoughts!
Kearsney Parks are set to benefit from investment in repairs and upgrades across the parks. This includes renovations to the children’s play area in Kearsney Abbey.
Dover District Council is reaching out to the community to gather feedback on the Kearsney Abbey play area to support these improvements, via a short survey and face to face engagement over the coming months.
You can complete the short survey here: www.dover.gov.uk/kearsneyplayarea
Wildlife
The Kingfishers continue to be seen in all three parks, also keep an eye out for the Egret and Heron, both recently seen in Kearsney Abbey.
Volunteering at Kearsney Parks
Volunteer tasks have finished for this year but will start up again in the new year. They take place on a weekly basis. We meet in the café car park from 9.30am until 12.30pm, which includes a break for tea and doughnuts. We continue to carry out general maintenance in all three parks, including working on the grand border and the orchard in Russell Gardens.
If you are interested in volunteering, and would like to be put on our database, please get in touch at kearsney.parks@dover.gov.uk
Photography
There are many great opportunities for taking photographs in Kearsney Parks, and we thank everyone for sending their fantastic photos to us. Please feel free to send photos in and we will try to use them in our publications, including the Kearsney Parks Calendar and on our social media. The fantastic picture above is the December picture from the 2024 calendar, and was taken by Alan Pullinger.
Please send your photos to kearsney.parks@dover.gov.uk
Thank you
A big thank you goes out to everyone who has helped to support the parks over the year, including all the amazing photographers who have sent their photos in, and all our fantastic volunteers who have been doing such great work all year.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year from the Kearsney Parks team.
